R-Pro Aero, Auto Pilot
More about the stamp: For the Auto Pilot design, Artist Marm O. Set drew from the glamorous and modern Art Deco style popular in the 1920’s, which influenced everything from skyscrapers to automobiles to fashion, and more than a hundred years later, disc golf stamps.
In 1983, the Aero followed the original Eagle, which was a lot like the aero. I went to the 1983 European Overall Frisbee Championships in England, and the Eagle (the one like the Aero) was just out.
It was the first bevel edged disc we had ever seen, and it was by far the farthest flying disc on the planet. There was a meeting to decide whether to allow it at the tournament. A compromise was reached to allow it in disc golf but not in distance, which opened the door to the full acceptance of bevel edged discs.
